Newts

Newts are actually a type of salamander and as such, fall under the same order (Urodela). Adult newts tend to spend much or all of their time living under water, however not all fully aquatic salamanders are newts. Newts are solely classified by the Pleurodelinae and are found throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Similar to salamanders, newts have slender, lizard like bodies, four equally sized limbs and a distinct tail. Newts can be either full aquatic i.e. living permanently under water, or semi-aquatic and living on land returning to the water each year to breed.
